While Time Machine offers a good, reliable local backup option, Arq is designed to also be a complementary 'disaster recovery' restore solution. Data is backed-up and restored via simple drag-and-drop operations. Multiple versions are stored to allow 'point-in-time' restores, and backups can be encrypted. An Amazon S3 account is required (with somewhat complicated tiered pricing) for storage, and Arq costs $29 for a single-copy, or $49 for a five-user family pack.</p>
