There have been some very positive reviews of the experience as a whole and it's great to see how the team's work integrating a native Bing experience has been received."</em></p><p>Microsoft has done an excellent job at integrating technologies into Windows Phone 7. This is no more apparent than in the way Bing has been prominently placed on the phone to provide users with a powerful and intuitive search experience. The Bing team has been working hard to make sure that there are plenty of useful features such as location-based searches, news, and of course, Bing Maps. One thing that is currently lacking (but was available with Windows Mobile) is voice-guided navigation. The Bing team has shown an agility that seems to have been lacking on other teams at Microsoft, so it will be interesting to see what else they come up with before launch. Yep, I've seen the cool little video, in which the female searches for shops that make cupcakes near the home where she will be attending a party, etc. Microsoft has invested a LOT of time and effort into its Bing search capabilities, so it's natural that they'd want people to use it on their Windows 7 Phones.

The challenge, as I see it, is that the search capability resides in the cloud, not on the device. So, it requires a pristine connection to work as well as demonstrated. I ran into the same situation with other speech recognition apps, such as from Dragon; it works great, as long as you've got a great, high-speed connection to the network.

Concept -- GREAT!
Execution -- Still limited by factors beyond the user's control
