Once the voice call goes into FaceTime, it switches to Wi-Fi, thus no minutes come off your plan. The question is when FaceTime is allowed to work off of 3G, what happens then? My gut instinct is that the minutes would come off your plan since you are using AT&amp;T to keep it going versus the Wi-Fi. Or would it come off of your data plan? I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it, hopefully you are given the choice between Wi-Fi and 3G if you want to switch to FaceTime.</p>

Knowing AT&T, they'll find a way to take it off BOTH your minutes and your data allotment. Technically, though, it's a data communication and doesn't use any voice capabilities, so when using 3G services it should come from one's data allotment (which is, unfortunately, more costly to the customer -- except those with unlimited plans).
