I'm wondering if Amazon will partner with any of these other ebook makers on the hardware side? Assuming no and that they are going to follow the apple model at least for hardware. But wouldn't mind being surprised.

I think B&N is really doing this a lot smarter than Amazon. I love my nook and its cool to know that there's 2 other readers out there that I can share books with (3 if Plastic Logic ever gets theirs out...not that anyone would buy such an insanely expensive ereader :rolleyes:)
