I think it's pretty ridiculous that my three year old Dell XPS M1330 has an HDMI port - and yes, I've connected it to an HDTV many times - but until this newest Macbook, you couldn't do video + audio over a DisplayPort converted to HDMI. Weird. What does Apple have against HDMI? They don't make HDTVs, so they don't want you connected your Macbook to them? Silly. :rolleyes:

HDMI requires royalty payments; DisplayPort is royalty free. Perhaps it is that.

Indeed, that could be it - I have a hunch Apple would hate sharing any of their profits. I just don't get some of the things that Macbooks were missing; memory cards aren't exactly unknown. Seems like it's only recently that they've gotten the message by adding an SD card slot.
