Why Microsoft for a phone?

I have been a Microsoft Mobile user for a lot longer than it was Microsoft Mobile. I have had a PDA for years, extending back to early iPaq and later Axim X51v days. When I look at what is available today from HTC and Google Android, I am wondering why I should even consider a Windows Mobile-based smartphone.

Are there truly compelling reasons for choosing a Windows Mobile smartphone? If so, what are they?
