How Will You Use Your iPad?

I expect to use it for tasks that I'm trying to do on my iPhone, but will welcome more screen real estate. For example, I'm trying to use and learn Brushes, a really excellent painting/drawing app, but my ham-like fingers just can't do a good job on the iPhone. Another task would be to web site (content) management. I currently develop client web sites using WebYep's CMS (content management system) where all site content can be browser managed. Imagine prototyping a client web site on a handheld device (out of wifi range)! I know that a NetBook or laptop would probably do a better job with a lot of text, but I'm thinking more untethered and unplugged. Of course, the multitude of eBooks is eagerly awaited. I have a Kindle 2, but am actually reading mostly on my iPhone Kindle version. Even a textbook on Finnish grammar is much better on the iPhone's version. I also use Stanza for other eBooks. And, all the iTunes content is a given ... I'm not much of a game player, with really only Tetris and a couple "Brain Tuner" games, but I could easily become one ... So I guess that my final answer so far is that I'll use it for whatever it does best, and leave the 'other' stuff for other computers. Use the best tool for the job!

I plan to use it to do the same things I'm doing with my MBP sans disc burning. Web, email, news reading , consuming media with the addition of eBooks. The real test for me will be how I adapt to the on-screen keyboard. I belong to and post on a number of blogs and sites like this one requiring a fair amount of text input (no I don't want to lug around a keyboard dock or even a foldable BT keyboard). On a side note I ended up pre-ordering the base 16GB WiFi model (to play with now) and the 32GB 3G model.

I'm wondering how much storage will actually need. I pre-ordered the 32GB Wi-Fi version, and will possibly get a 3G version when it comes out since I'm sure this thing will be taken over by the wife and kids ;). I'm wondering how much storage will be enough, 16GB? 64GB?

I'm not buying one yet - not for a while, probably - but, for me, I look forward to using this as a replacement for a laptop when I am away for a couple of days, traveling on vacation with the family - it'll be good enough to keep up with email, post photos, update facebook and stuff - and perhaps for the living room the rest of the time, as a watching the tv web surfing, tongue-in-cheek tweeting, and checking email device.

26%? I think that is seriously flawed data.

Or does that align with iPhone and Touch usage? I'd see no reason for iPad users to use/install applications less than iPhone users do.

If you are planning to read books, then you are planning to "access and download" at least one application, by definition. Even iBook is an application - it is not cooked in the ROM.
