The defiant photographer had endured a year of failed attempts at getting the right picture after building hides and digging trenches near the animals' drinking spot. In a final desperate effort, the 32-year-old decided to take the plunge and climb into the murky pool with his camera and ended up contracting several tropical diseases."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1268974279.usr1.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>Now that's what I call dedication - and a healthy dose of crazy. <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1253935/Photographer-captures-amazing-images-lions-watering-hole-submerging-months.html#ixzz0iadRwV3O" target="_blank">Read the article</a> and check out the diseases this guy caught - but wow, what images!</p>

Those look like some amazing photographs. I would have thought he could or would have put a dry suit on before submerging himself in that kind of water for that long. Looking at how close he is to those lions, and seeing how they are looking right at him, I have to say that Mr. du Toit is a far braver man than I am!;)

I thought that as well, but maybe it wasn't practical in that environment...

All I know is that he's going to have to live with the threat of them parasites for the rest of his life. o_O
