You'll just need to get a MiFi, I guess, if you need "tethering". Or the 3G model...

Exactly! I keep going back and forth on getting just wifi or the 3G because of the MiFi that I have. I was set on going 3G but am now pondering just getting a Wi-Fi and using my MiFi from Verizon with it. In fact I see some recent stories about Verizon pushing salespeople to bring this up to people to try and sell more of the MiFi units. Advantage of the 3G inside the iPad is I won't have to carry something else around and have a cheaper data rate. However I use the MiFi when we travel anyway so am thinking that may be the way for me to go...
