Woohoo! Thanks for the heads up Andy! Now I need to do two things. First I want to upgrade my "tiny" 512MB system drive to a 2GB'er. Second, well, I want to decide if I really want to spend $25 for the upgrade (mostly to get the iPhone streaming) or if I'm better off waiting for the new, Server 2008 based WHS upgrade coming later this year. Gosh! I'd better do the second part first, huh? :)

Speaking of which, do y'all have any suggestions for a WHS-based streamer for the iPhone? I suppose I could do Orb, but are there others that are better?

Thanks!

There are two streaming programs that I have personally tried which are Orb and Webguide. Out of the two, I found that Orb was the easiest to install, setup and get working. I actually quite like Orb even though I no longer use it. I certainly like how HP have built this in to their MediaSmart software there. Perhaps Microsoft will take note and add such a feature in to Vail.

Hmm. Bummer that it's CD/DVD-based. I don't mind paying for it, but ordering a physical disc seems odd. Anyone find a link to the exact order page yet?

Oh, here we go:

Doh!

"Invalid product. Please try again or follow the instructions below to place a phone order."

I keep getting that regardless of if I pick Canada or USA. Can anyone actually order this yet?

Yep, same here. Odd. Perhaps they've pulled it temporarily because they discovered a problem? Seems like 6+ months would be enough time to work out the kinks, though. :)

I'm still not sure if I'll wait for Vail or not. I don't care about the $25, but the time it's gonna take to redo the system twice--plus losing my backup history twice--seems like it may well not be worth the hassle. Still, I like to keep up with the Joneses. :)

Oh, so it's a destructive update? I didn't read the step by step process for the upgrade...that sucks if it blows away all the previous backups.

I can't 100% verify that anywhere. It definitely kills the user accounts, but I'm not seeing anywhere that says that it kills the backups. Perhaps those stay...
