Hands on with the Dell Mini 5

<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/11/dell-mini-5-we-have-it/' target='_blank'>http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/11/...i-5-we-have-it/</a><br /><br /></div><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1265927184.usr10.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>Engadget has gotten their hands on the Dell Mini 5 and has a bunch of pictures and video posted. &nbsp;They should have a bunch of impression posts coming along as they play with it. &nbsp;This size&nbsp;category&nbsp;is an interesting choice. &nbsp;I think a lot of people might find it a bit large to be pocketable, but might be ready to make the sacrifice for all the extra screen real estate. &nbsp;On the other end, some might find it too small versus the iPad for the tablet experience. &nbsp;Too big, too small, just right, what do you think?</p>

At least it has a user replaceable battery! :)

Beyond that, cannot see the appeal: looks way too big for a phone, and with no (hardware) keyboard seems too compromised for "real computer work."

We enjoy our Dell Mini 10v - I can even touch type on the darned thing in the dark - but find the screen on it to be somewhat small. Thus the Mini 5, with an even smaller display, seems more like a toy or media player (or, in other words: A Toy...): nice if you have spare $$ hanging around & always carry either a purse or briefcase, but certainly not an "essential" purchase as a Smartphone or Netbook could be.....
