The robbery took place during the day; at around 1:30pm, the young men just started grabbing, and walked out of the store with as many iPhones as they could carry."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1260730053.usr105634.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>Big loss like this and I'm sure they will do some followup, and not just write it off. The iPhones didn't have SIM cards and are supposedly entered in a crime database so be careful if you are in PA and someone offers to sell you an iPhone cheap!</p>

Yea... I dealt with a stolen phone before. All that "crimes database" does is prevent the phone from being activated. And entries only last a month. At least according to AT&T service in 2008.

So, I had always assumed that if my mobile phone were ever stolen, it would be a relatively simple thing to track it down if the thief were to start using it. Is the issue that it's NOT simple to do or that it's just not worth all the time and expense?
