The failures are allegedly occurring without warning, and are thought to be attributable to faulty power supplies, though some owners have suggested problems with chips or connectors."

This is mainly happening on older Time Capsules sold in 2008, and the repair cost has been in the $500.00 USD range. It should also be noted that anybody with Applecare on a computer can get support for attached devices and peripherals from Apple that are connected to it, from mice to keyboards to external devices (cable, modems, ethernet adapters, Airport adapters, displays for the Mini and Mac Pro, etc.) And the Airport and Time Capsule router products qualify as well.
