New Logitech Mice Are Glass Friendly

On glass these lasers work using dark field microscopy (hence the name) to track imperfections (scratches and cracks), rather than reading the surface proper."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1250829454.usr20447.jpg" style="border: 0px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>I have to admit that I rarely need to use a mouse on a glass table, but it has happened.&nbsp; I also admit that there is a mousepad that comes with me whenever I venture out into the world with my laptop.&nbsp; Logitech has felt my pain and has come up with Darkfield laser technology to solve what ails me.&nbsp; Most likely a response to Microsoft's Bluetrack mice, Logitech's new Performance Mouse MX and Anywhere Mouse MX work on pretty much any surface, including glass.&nbsp; It is also nice to see that you can charge the mouse while using it, eliminating the need to bring a spare set of batteries.&nbsp; I'm skeptical that Darkfield works as well as Logitech claims.&nbsp; Anyone willing to bite the bullet and see if these work as advertised?</p>

I just wish Logitech would stop screwing around with the form factor and the button placement and number of buttons. I have the MX1100 and I think it's perfect. As usual thanks to Logitech moving the layout around I'll have no idea what to replace it with when it eventually needs replacing.

The shape looks very similar to the MX1100, but I know what you mean. I'm very used to the MX500-900 series myself. I've got an MX518, and MX900 right now, while having a short fling with an MX700. I wish they came out with a bluetooth mouse with forward and back buttons!

i'm a big fan of logitech, they're the only brand that I use, but the new type of scroll wheel really blows. i like the clicky type scroll wheel on my G5, not the free spinning on their new mice. One little flick sends it scrolling out of control to the bottom of the page, way past whatever it is i am trying to read. even with the crappy scroll wheel, the vx nano is an amazing mouse and lives in my backpack..

I use the VX Nano as my desktop and mobile mouse actually. I just find small mice more comfy to manhandle. Also, it does offer "clicky" scrolling on the wheel. Just firmly press the wheel down to switch between clicky mode and free wheelin' mode. Again, this mouse rocks!

I had no idea that it could do that, although I wonder now if there is something wrong with mine. It took me several minutes of pressing every which way, and much force, just to get this enabled. I had to press so hard that I was a little concerned that I was going to end up breaking it. This option makes this mouse rock even more!

The toggle for the free/clicky mode should just be pressing the wheel down vertically, though it does go down a fair bit. I gave mine up though, since it's clicky was still a little too soft for me. The mouse was nice though!

Personally, I hate that clicky sound that mice scroll wheels make. My current mouse (not sure - MX800? it's corded) only clicks when I scroll up, which thankfully is only about 1/4 of the time I use the scroll wheel. I much prefer the MS mouse I have at work, whose wheel travels freely with no click.

Also, all of these mice seem to be made for people with small hands. My hand is too big for me to rest my thumb on the little thumb shelf they've got going on here. I really prefer the old-school contours-with-no-shelf type of mouse. I'm a finger-mouser; my hand rarely - if ever - actually rests on the mouse.

This mouse looks like it was made for palmers. Especially with its side-button placement. I'm a finger-tip guy :(

Also, gamers pretty much need a click scroll wheel, because one must be able to control and feel how many times it has scrolled.

I use the MX1100, a huge mouse, and I still use my fingers to move it.
