In fact, NewsGator is ditching its online feed reading and synching service and transitioning all of its clients to use Google Reader."</em></p><p><em><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1249326512.usr105634.jpg" /></em></p><p>I've used the online feed reader for a number of years, and it works perfectly with the iPhone app. So I wasn't too happy about this functionality <a href="http://blogs.newsgator.com/daily/2009/07/newsgator-consumer-rss-reader-product-changes-google-sync.html" target="_blank">ending</a> on August 31st this year. From what I understand though, I can still use the iPhone app to see my feeds but I need to use either Google Reader or the desktop NetNewsWire instead of the web page. And as an alternative I can use the Google app (even though it only links to the web pages) that consolidates a number of its services. I'm still trying to get Times to work correctly so I'm still up in the air as to what I'm going to use at this point. But I did transfer all my feeds to Google using the handy <a href="http://www.newsgator.com/productinfo/producttransition.aspx" target="_blank">instructions</a> provided so all is not lost.&nbsp;</p>

I've downloaded the latest clients for both Mac and Windows and both are set to sync to Google Reader. But of course my iPhone app feeds are out of sync. They're supposed to be releasing an updated iPhone app to sync to Google Reader, but until it comes out, I'm stuck with the iPhone.

This is always a risk when using free synchronisation services. I kind of figured this day was coming. I would have preferred to have paid for the app (it went free the very day I decided I was going to buy, so I never had to pay for it) and continue with NWW synchronisation. They could have kept the Mobile Me synching as an option at least!

Byline or Google Reader's web interface work nicely on the iPhone. Either should tide you over until NNW is updated.

Thanks for the tip, Darius. I never use Google's services via the web (always use clients) so never even thought of using the web via iPhone. You're right - it'll tide me over.
