Use SafeWallet to store all kinds of information, such as: credit cards information, online passwords, bank account info, registration codes, ATM PINs, emergency contacts, addresses, serial numbers and create your own card templates for your own custom information! SafeWallet uses 256-bit AES encryption, in accordance with the standard adopted by the U.S. government, to ensure the safety of your sensitive information!"</em></p><p><strong>The App: </strong>SBSH SafeWallet is one of the premiere digital wallet applications for Windows Mobile, Symbian S60 and BlackBerry Handhelds.&nbsp; Will their latest release of their first iPhone app hold up to the reputation of its predecessors? Read on to find out!&nbsp;<MORE /></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1248542395.usr18053.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p><strong>The Details:&nbsp; </strong>SBSH SafeWallet consists of two parts: an application for your iPhone or iPod Touch and a companion application for your Windows-based PC (the Mac version is in the works, folks).&nbsp; Tapping on the application from your device's Springboard immediately brings you to the wallet selection screen.&nbsp; The number of wallets you can store is theoretically unlimited except by the space you have on your device.&nbsp; Once you select a wallet, you'll be prompted for its accompanying password.&nbsp; As mentioned earlier, your data is stored using 256 bit AES encryption, meaning if anyone does somehow get your wallet into their posession, it'll be practically impossible to decrypt your data.&nbsp; The weakest link is your password, as usual, so make sure it's a good one.</p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1248542891.usr18053.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>I'm not the type to gravitate to folders.&nbsp; I usually prefer all my data in one long list.&nbsp; That being said, the ability to change icons to represent different kinds of data is pretty awesome.&nbsp; There are hundreds of icons to choose from and one of them is sure to match the category of the folder.&nbsp; If you're a "place for everything and everything in its place" type, you'll enjoy the folder and subfolder capabilities.</p><p>Adding cards is equally intuitive, and equally customizable.</p><p><img height="432" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1248543188.usr18053.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" width="290" /></p><p>In fact, for every card you add, you can change the name of the card, remove any of the default properties for the card (helpful if you have less than the template shows), and in case the templates don't exactly meet your needs, you can customize the card by adding additional fields to the individual card.&nbsp; This doesn't alter the template, though.&nbsp; For adding and changing templates you'll need the desktop companion (a minor quibble for me, seeing as the Mac version isn't available yet).</p><p><img height="343" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com//at/auto/1248824165.usr18053.png" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" width="500" /></p><p>Syncing with the PC Companion is as simple as running the Windows version of the application on a computer that's on the same WiFi network as the iPhone or iPod Touch you have SafeWallet installed on and clicking on Sync Manager on the PC and going into Tools and Sync Mode and vo&iacute;la!&nbsp; Couldn't be simpler.</p><p>It's also nice that they've licensed Microsoft's Ribbon.&nbsp; Even though SafeWallet isn't integrated into Office, it does feel like it belongs in Windows.&nbsp; Love it or hate it, it's consistent with other Windows apps (or at least the look Microsoft is standardizing on).&nbsp; A piece of advice, though.&nbsp; If you do want to sync with your iPhone, you have to make sure the "SBSH SafeWallet for iPhone / iPod Touch" is checked during the install or the sync component won't be installed.&nbsp; Even if you never plan on syncing your iPhone with a copy of iTunes on Windows, you still need to check this option; something I learned the hard way!</p><p><PAGE /></p><p><strong>The Verdict:</strong> When I had my Windows Mobile / Pocket PC devices way back in ye oldern days of yore, the first thing I installed on every reboot was PocketBreeze, one of SBSH's other quality applications and probably the one that introduced me to them as a company to begin with.&nbsp; When they contacted me and asked if I'd like to review SafeWallet, I was very happy because I expected a lot and they were already a company I trusted.&nbsp; In many ways, I was not disappointed.</p><p>The problem with e-wallet solutions has always been usability.&nbsp; For the most part, they're overly complex (or underpowered; rarely a happy medium), require too many taps, touches, clicks, and such, and are unintuitive for setting up new cards and accounts.&nbsp; After giving SafeWallet a good looking over, I can truly say that despite SBSH not having a full portfolio of Apple iPhone / iPod Touch software yet, their first app is already on target as far as what an iPod Touch / iPhone App should be.&nbsp; It utilizes the touch interface nicely, and the controls are big enough to be properly navigated with your fingers.</p><p>On top of that, it's nicely customizable, securely encrypted, and has a fully functional (and equally easy to use) desktop application, and for the price is a very good bargain, even moreso when bundled with the desktop app.&nbsp; I'm looking forward to a Mac desktop app and I think the only thing I'd like to see that isn't included is a password adviser of some kind to warn the less knowledgable about their password selections when creating a wallet (people using passwords that are too simple really do need to be flogged).&nbsp; It does explain length and complexity under the password you choose, but I think that needs to be more obvious.&nbsp; A definite minor thing, that doesn't detract from the app in any way.&nbsp; Consider this, to borrow a term from stockbroker parlance, a "strong buy recommendation."</p><p><strong>Availability: </strong>SBSH SafeWallet is available now from the iTunes App Store for $5.99 (<a href="http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=311202163&amp;mt=8" target="_blank">link</a>) and the Desktop Companion (for Windows only) is available from the SBSH Online Store for $5.95 (<a href="http://www.sbsh.net/products/apple_iphone/safewallet" target="_blank">link</a>).</p><p><em>Vincent Ferrari is an Apple fan, videoblogger, blogger, writer, and all-around geek from the Bronx. He works in the IT Department of a cellular phone company that shall not be named, and lives in a very comfortable apartment with his lovely wife, two lovely cats, two Macs, two iPhones, and God-knows-how-many iPods of varying age.</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com//ppct/auto/1240336793.usr1.gif" /></p><p><strong>Do you enjoy using new hardware, software and accessories, then sharing your experience with others? Hi all! :)

We've just released a new update two days ago to version 1.2 for SafeWallet for iPhone, so I wanted to leave a quick update here too with the new features that we've included with this new update for our users.

Similar to previous updates this update is also free for all of our registered users and I hope you will enjoy the new features we've been working on with this new update!

As always, we are really glad to hear more thoughts from our users for new features you would like to see. We are already working on our upcoming updates and hope to have the next new update available and released already in the next couple of days now!

So, here is a quick list of the new features we included with this new update:

1. Favorites

With this new version users can now mark cards as favorites! :) All cards marked as favorites are then available through a new Favorites tab which includes a list of all cards that were marked as favorites within the current wallet we are browsing. Using the new Favorites feature users can easily mark specific cards that they use more often and then have them easily accessible through the new Favorites tab.

When opening a wallet you will now notice a new tab button is available at the bottom which will take you to the Favorites tab, listing all cards marked as favorites within the current opened wallet.

The favorite flag is now also properly synced with your SafeWallet PC Companion, so that cards marked as favorite cards on the PC Companion will also carry the flag to the iPhone part upon syncing and in a similar way the other way around. Favorites support is already available with SafeWallet PC Companion for the last few updates so the new addition on the iPhone side is designed to sync nicely with the favorites feature on the PC SafeWallet Companion side.

2. Setting Card as Favorite

Now that favorite cards support was added, we also need a way we can mark cards as favorites. With this new feature implementation we've added two very simple ways that allow users to mark cards as favorite cards very easily! We've design the ability to mark cards as favorites as easy and fast as possible so that users will be able to easily mark any card they wish as a favorite card.

Marking a card as favorite card can be done in two ways:

2.1. Open up a card in Card View Mode (this is done simply by clicking a certain card once from any of the wallet folder views). Once the card is opened in view mode, simply click once on the card title field and you will see that the star icon placed on the right side of the title field is now lit, indicating that this card is now marked as favorite. Another press on the card title field will toggle off the favorite flag back again.

2.2. Pressing the right side of a card item within any of the wallet folder views. This way you can easily mark cards as favorites even without opening them in view mode. Simply press the right side of the card item in any of the wallet folders while browsing your wallet and the card will be marked as favorite. Another press will toggle the favorite flag back off.

All cards marked as favorites will be displayed with a star icon so that you can easily notice cards marked as favorites this way when navigating through your wallet content.

3. Auto Lock Fixes

Following some a few bug reports that we received from our users this new version includes a few good fixes related to SafeWallet auto-lock feature. With these fixes implemented your wallet will now auto-lock properly from all SafeWallet dialogs when the device is powered off, so even if you leave SafeWallet running on the device and someone else opens your iPhone, SafeWallet will make sure to auto-lock your wallet in all cases automatically.

4. Bug Fixes and Optimization

As with our previous new updates, with this new update we’ve also fixed some minor bug reports that we received from our users and worked on some additional new code optimization that help us improve SafeWallet experience for our users. Some of the changes implemented with this new version should also help us implement some of the new features that we are working on these days for the upcoming new updates (version 1.2.1 and 1.2.2), which are already in development.

-----------------------------------

I hope you will all enjoy the new features we introduced with this new version! Have a great day all!
