Of course, and this is the device I am waiting on. My old phone died and I've resurrected my HTC Universal for daily duty. I seriously need a new device. My three week wait may have just become five or six weeks. Ugh.

Update: T-Mobile's official Twitter account has confirmed that the Touch Pro2 will make it this summer.

Perhaps the reason for the short delay is because they are switching things over to WM 6.5 instead of 6.1. That does avoid the hassel of making the switch later.

SORRY GUYS!

I know to you all I’m some random guy on the internets, but I reassure you that I have seen the NAM version of this phone in person. I live in Margate, FL. But there’s a bit of bad news here. The version I saw was CDMA, yes that right. It was a Sprint employee with a sprint branded Touch Pro2. I spotted it out the corner of my eye (he was texting on it) and I immediately approached him and confirmed it. As soon as I took out my touch HD to snap a few 5MP pictures of it he quickly and nervously put it away.

I then queried him and here’s the bad news. He told me that Sprint has exclusive rights for at least 6 months! And that’s why T-Mobile will be delaying it. I didn’t pay it any mind at all till I seen this article. I didn’t want to believe him but he was the guy with a Sprint branded Touch Pro2, and believe me I argued with him for about 30 minutes in disbelief. He told me that I he was a beta tester, and the phone will be delayed across the board, but even then Sprint will have it exclusively in the US for at least 6 months.

SORRY GUYS! I Hope I'm wrong.... :(

The guy was pumping smoke, i.e. lying. There are pages upon pages of proof that tmobile is not only releasing this phone, but releasing it first.

It does look like T-Mobile will be last to market with the TP2. Sad, I read the reason is they didn't want the TP2 to steal the thunder of the My Touch Android handset.

Ed, I know how you feel, I'm waiting to come back from the android world (it has been an interesting 4 months but now it's time to come home), another month now :(

I would totally agree with you if I didn't see the device myself with sprint branding.

TP2 with T-Mo branding and sales sheet. http://www.tmonews.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/TP2SPECS.png

TP2 with Verizon branding - HTC Touch Pro2 brandishes Verizon logo, poses for camera with Cedar (http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/24/htc-touch-pro2-brandishes-verizon-logo-poses-for-camera-with-ce/)

Branding logos don't indicate who is first. So many logos indicate no one will have a 6 mo exclusivity agreement.

Your'e right, branding means nothing, really I understand that, but he obviously has access to resources that I don't and since he had the most anticipated device on the planet in his hand, I had to take his word for it. Though I left sprint a while ago and have been with T-Mo for years, I truly hope it comes to t-mobile, and I hope he was puffing spoke.....

Why? He was a beta tester. I have beta tested many WinMo OS's for Microsoft but my actual knowledge of of release dates and other issues was actually minimal and even non-existent. I'll wager he was just beating his chest. He liked the attention you gave him.

the TP2 is anticipated by many, but it won't have iPhone appeal or even Pre appeal. HTC would be foolish to grant exclusivity to just a few carriers. I for one am glad that many carriers seem to be interested in it and already have branded models.

We already know the other carriers in the US (at least att, Verizon, and sprint) will be releasing this phone. We've already seen the sprint branded and Verizon branded (and tmobile branded of course) versions. That doesn't mean anything. What does carry some weight however, is all the leaked documents from tomobile showing their release strategy, dates, and internal training schedules. With that said it looks like, even with the delay, tmobile will still be releasing it first.

Funny Ed... As of last weekend I'm in exactly the same boat you are :)

The LCD screen for my HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125... Three years old now) was cracked at a baseball game, and finally gave out completely on Thursday. So I'm on a Motorola v400 now, and my friend is going to loan me his old TMobile Wing to tide me until this comes out. So this news is equally devastating to me.

As a side note, I noticed that the TMobile Snap, which was supposed to be released on July 1st, according to the same source that reported a July 22nd date for the Wing II, has also not been released yet. So I'm thinking this is probably more along the lines of some sort of shipment delay or something... Some event that would effect two models.

The TP2 has been confirmed to be only a delay.
