Dear Colleagues;

I have an old iMac (I think it is an iMac 350) the ones with the translucent bodies that show the guts. I wan to give it to a senior citizen at a center so they can get email and browse the Internet. It is running OS 9.2 and I know that my iBook with the same OS has trouble running Firefox and navigating the Net because it can't handle all of the scripts.

When I try to check my Google emails, for example, it seems to choke and stalls.

Any advice or suggestions? Thank you in advance - [ Jeff ]

Michael, one of the other writers on here, had trouble with OS 9 also, and decided to try and upgrade to Tiger. You might have some luck if you can find an original retail Tiger install, otherwise you're probably mostly out of luck because Leopard won't install on it. I would hit up Ebay and see what you can come up with.

It'll be a tricky upgrade, though. You have to make sure the firmware is at its latest version and you may have some wonkiness during the install, but I still think Tiger is probably your only option.
