My friend Matt (who's going to be doing a lot of travelling about a month from now) asked me a question today about the Zune wall charger, and I learnt something new that you may not know yourself: in addition to pumping out a big 1.5 amps (most USB chargers like this only kick out 1 amp), it will handle 100 to 240v and 50/60mhz. What this means is that with the proper adaptor plugs, this charger can be used anywhere in the world to recharge your Zune (or any other device that uses USB charging). That might explain why it's quite a bit bigger than other USB wall chargers I've seen...

Perhaps, but if you check most USB chargers today, they're dual voltage/frequency; my relatively small Suunto USB charger, for instance, is dual. I think it's the current rating moreso than the switching aspect.
