It's a few weeks behind the BlackJack II's own upgrade, true, but... you know, Canada-izing this stuff takes time. Or something. Grab the update from Samsung's site while the gettin's good."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com//zt/auto/1223395369.usr8.gif" /></p><p>This is great news for all of our Canadian readers out there! If you are the owner of one of Rogers Samsung Jack handsets you should head on over to the Samsung website and grab the latest update. As always, please make sure to back up all over your important data that you would like to keep as this update will completely wipe your device. Hopefully with the release of Windows Mobile 7, we will not have to deal with this inconvenience anymore... hopefully.</p>

I have two thing to say about this:

First, it's about freakin' time - it's pathetic that it took Rogers six months to get this out the door to customers.

Second, it's too freakin' hard! I literally can't get it installed - the installer asks for two codes, and despite the fact that I'm using the code from the Rogers Vista PDF file, and it keeps rejecting it. I've triple-checked that I have the correct download for Vista, and triple-checked that I'm looking at the right PDF file...and I still can't get it to work. &*@#^*@^#*@#@

I'm going to have to call Rogers tech support today and find out what the hell I'm doing wrong...

Wow, scary report. Did you end up succeeding?

I've been waiting for this upgrade as well. I had a... "ahem"... cooked 6.1 ROM on my old cingular 2125, but before I'd go ahead and upgrade, I have two questions if anyone can answer:

1. Will I be able to move my inbox to my storage card? I think there's a setting for this in wm professional, but I haven't seen it in wm standard. I also couldn't find any registry mods for this specific to wm 6.1 standard.

2. Sorry for letting the "noob" in me out of the bag, but will my old software still work or can I only run software designed for the new OS? My biggest concern is I've got "Garmin Mobile XT" running now for gps navigation.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help on this before I take the plunge.

I was never able to get it to work, and now Samsung has pulled the software update - which tells me something was very wrong with it. So now I'm back to waiting...<sigh>

Did anyone get it installed?</sigh>

Looks like the update is back on with a slick new website:

http://pages.samsung.com/ca/jack/eng/

Found it through Rogers help & support site:

So who's "going in"???
I'm still wondering about moving email to storage... why can't I seem to find any info online (or do the registry tweaks for wm6 simply also apply to wm6.1)?

I did the upgrade last week, and it went fine. The new 6.1 home screen interface is awesome! Regarding moving email to storage, why would you want to? The Jack has plenty of ROM storage for your email files, and moving an entire email database to a removable storage card runs huge risks of database corruption. It might be possible with a registry hack, but I certainly don't recommend it.

I use my phone for buisness email and carry with me all emails including subfolders and sent items from the past month with all file attachments. I need these with me for reference and am worried about not having enough space on the device and/or slower performance. My "Sent Items" folder in Outlook right now is 117MB and is stored easily on my devices 4GB storage card.

Maybe there's a better way to go about this?

Not really - it's more that Windows Mobile wasn't designed to fit your particular scenario. The registry hack that works on 6 should work on 6.1, but I can't confirm that because I'm not going to take the risk with my email inbox. ;)
