View Full Version : Are Dell Inspiron Mini 9's Delayed? Or Just Mine?

I ordered my Dell Inspiron Mini 9 the morning of the first day it was available in Canada, which was 48 hours after it was launched in the US (September 4th). Originally I was given a delivery date of September 22nd, but a few days ago that was bumped to October 6th. What's equally strange is that Dell's order status page is reporting that I placed this order on the 18th of September rather than the 6th. I'm seeing unboxing videos on YouTube, and reviews popping up online, so it seems that at least some people are getting their units. It's also probable that because Canada, Australia, and a few other countries came after the USA/UK/Germany in the launch, those countries are soaking up all the early inventory. Any Digital Home Thoughts readers ordered one of these and received it yet?

I ordered mine the morning they were announced (actually before the "official" announcement) and it arrived this past Monday. So that was just under two weeks of waiting in total.

I ordered mine on the same day you did. Shipping has now been bumped to October 16 at the earliest. I had already sold the Minin9 (within 5 hours of posting the ad) but then I had to refund the purchase price since Dell pushed me out so far.

The good news is that I have already received a Studio 15 that was on the same order.

I ordered mine on September 5th, and got it Monday. Monday night I had to call customer service to get a replacement keyboard shipped to me because the keyboard on it was faulty (space bar didn't work). On Wednesday I got the new keyboard and I've been loving it ever since. It's utterly fantastic.

Dunno exactly when he ordered it, but a buddy of mine in Pennsyltucky received his last Saturday (9/20).

I'm curious about this...did you put it up on eBay or something? Who'd buy it - someone that lives in a country where Dell isn't selling it?

You cracked open the unit to replace the keyboard? Are they that easy to operate on? :)

Yes, I actually sold it on eBay twice. The first buyer asked for a refund because shipping was taking too long. The second buyer was informed of the wait and bought it anyway. They got it for $40-$50 less than list, yet I still made a profit, so we're all happy. Assuming the thing ever ships. It's 10/4 now - hope you've gotten yours.

There's not that much profit to begin with in these things...did the one you're re-selling fall off the back of a UPS truck? :D

Didn't Dell have a BOGO offer on the Inspiron-14 and -9? Maybe that's the one he sold.

Absolute piece of cake. Two screws :-)
