It is great to see Microsoft doing this, but it seems once again it took Apple to do it first and show that it really can help drive the market. Actually from what I understand, Live Mesh will be a platform on which all kinds of apps like MobileMe can be built. I'm looking forward to see what comes out of the developer conference.

I didn't say Apple invented it, but they did implement first. If I am mistaken, please let me know the OS device manufacturer that built in the facility to shop for and purchase online applications.

I don't think Microsoft is copying Apple or Google. For years they have been pimping Handango on us for all of our Windows Mobile application needs. With the recent developer out lash against Handango though, it just makes sense for Microsoft to create something better for all of their developers.

AppForge invented the on device catalogue. Handango then copied it. AppForge went bust etc ... An on device MS catalogue is a fantastic development.

As others have mentioned, Apple wasn't even close to being first. These "Apple invented" or "Apples was first" claims are getting tiring.
