As QWERTY-bar phones go this one is very attractive. Looks and feature-wise.

My one complaint about this phone would be the odd 320x320 pixel resolution. Unless your 3rd party apps are 128dpi aware (normal apps are 96 dpi aware and VGA-compatible apps are 192 dpi aware), the icons, images, and other drawing of the app are going to look like crap because the OS will double every 3rd pixel both horizontally and vertically in order to scale it up to the screen's resolution which yields some very odd results. At least with non-VGA aware apps on a VGA screen they use pixel doubling, so that the effect is uniform if blocky. 320x320 was first introduced with WM 6, so older apps will definitely not be aware.

I would much prefer to see either a 480x480 screen or them running the 320x320 screen at 96 dpi (i.e. as if it were an extra-wide QVGA screen rather than a higher resolution version of a 240x240 screen). Really, I'd prefer to see either a landscape-oriented QVGA or VGA screen than a square screen- I've never liked square screens on WM devices.

Exactly. If not for the square screen, I should have already got a Treo 800w by now. Treo pro looks more attractive than 800w and specs are pretty nice, but I'm feeling not comfortable with that resolution at all. I don't mind a little bit bigger and longer Treo for either QVGA or VGA screen.

Yeah, I'll buy one, because I've honestly never owner a BAD Palm machine. The square screen doesn't bother me and the Treo will be a step up from my iPAQ 6945 or my generation one iPhone/Palm TX combination I carry, when traveling. I'm glad someone is finally meeting the needs of the international traveler with a roaming function. The iPhone is impressive in this department but simply lacks (at this point) the power and versatility of WM 6.1. I like iPhone but don't think it's quite there for the international business traveler, who wants to travel with one device. HTC is there but is (once again at this point) crazy expensive. The Touch Pro's 3D interface is really beautiful and innovative but too rich for my wallet.

I like the battery size. It at least sounds encouraging.

My $0.02,

Bill

Palm just launched a best seller with the Treo Pro. All we need in a pdaphone with keyboard is inside this machine. In the beginning of 2008 I believed that the Samsung i780 was the best machine with tech specifications close to the Treo Pro, but the poor battery life, the samsung connector (on the side) and the @%#$ mouse disappointed me. I was waiting for a new machine with 320x320 square screen (@Dyvim : all softwares like Pocket informant or Tomtom work fine on 320x320) and the Treo Pro seem to be the long awaited machine. It will be mine in september when launched in France ;)

Sorry for my poor english...

Trust me, your English is FAR better than my French!

I'm glad to hear that someone is applauding the 320x320 screen. The problem I;ve had with my Treo 750 is that the screen is too small.

Well done Palm - of course I'll never see it staying on Verizon - and if I do, well then it will be crippled to some extent. Yeah... time to drop verizon (next year this time) and switch over to ATT so I can start to take advantage of all these cool GSM phones!

Hmm - this or the Diamond...??

There is no proper reason to applaud the 320x320 screen.

Other than that I think that Palm is already dead.
