Alltel follows up Sprint to become the second network in the US to launch HTC's next-gen CDMA Windows Mobile 6 Professional handset (Alltel's site claims it's Windows Mobile 5, but we're not believing that -- check the screen shots), offering WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, 2 megapixel cam, and just about all the EV-DO you can handle as the HTC PPC6800. Grab it for $549 off contract, or $249 after two-year agreement and a <a href="http://www.alltel.com/rebates/docs/ph_rebate_HTC6800.pdf">$100 snail mail rebate</a>."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/martin-20070828-alltel_HTC6800.jpg" /><br /><br />If you're on <a href="http://www.alltel.com/phones/htc/6800.html">Alltel</a> and have been waiting for the <a href="http://www.america.htc.com/products/ppc6800/default.html">HTC PPC6800</a>, it's available now. According to the comments on the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/08/25/alltel-launches-htc-ppc6800/">Engadget post</a>, it comes with Windows Mobile 5, but they should be offering a free upgrade to Windows Mobile 6 for download within a month. No official word, though, on the OS upgrade. How many of you 6700 users have been waiting for the 6800? What's the biggest draw for you?

OMG! They've used a screenshot of a smartphone on a WM professional device

I was getting pretty upset w/ VZ for not jumping on the update, but I've heard on some forums about the Sprint 6800's having random cutouts and garbled transmission w/ any BT headset. Think I'll hang on to my 6700 till they get that worked out.

How many of us have seen the movie "Office Space"? Especially the beginning where Peter (the main charecter) is stuck in traffic and sees that the lane to his left begins moving while he is sitting still... Well he swicthes lanes only to find that the moving lane now stops and the one he just came from starts moving again...
Or how about standing in a line at a store - frustrated that the person ahead of you is taking so long to check-out so you switch lanes only to find out that the person in front of you in the new lane is just as slow - if not slower...
OR
You rant about T-Mo being the slowest adopters in the US of A (not to mention coverage and bandwidth limitations) so you switch to Verizon to find out that VERIZON IS THE SLOWEST ADOPTER OF NEW TECHNOLOGY IN THE US OF A!?!? :soapbox:
Off to take more medication now - must calm down and continue to wait for the feet draggers to release the 6800 - ugh...

Telus having, released the Mogul quite some time ago, allowed me to see it quite early on.
As a 6700 user I'm gonna wait... Till the REV. A is turned on. :)
