Normal cell phones have a 3-conductor jack so you can talk using a headset, but my PPC (imate jasjar) only has a headphone jack. The only way to use a headset is to use bluetooth. Unfortunately I work in a super noisy environment so I have to use "the Boom" (http://www.theboom.com) headset so my caller can only hear my voice instead of my noisy environment.

Anyone else have this problem? Does your PPC phone edition have a 3-conductor jack? All normal cell phones do - that's what gripes me the most. the PPC phone edition should be able to do at least everything every cheapo cell phone can do.

I know there's good noise cancelling bluetooth headsets out there (like the jawbone). But this works better, and it's what I want to use.

It's probably not a simple audio out jack but a 4 pin stereo jack. Maybe I'm confused, but a compatible wired headset or an adapter allowing you to use any headset should work. :?

The JasJar normally comes with a headset that provides stereo earphones and a mic in the cord. It is indeed a four conductor jack supporting left, right, and mic. The layout of the jack is such that you can hit the left and right, with a standard 3 conductor mini headphone plug (3.5mm) and it shorts out the mic input to eliminate any potential noise.

Only point to watch is that any third party headset thingy you buy is listed to work on the JasJar or has a good return policy. Not all four conductor jacks/plugs are wired the same. Not that the Dell X50/51 series jack is also 4 conductor and wired the same, so if you find a suitable headset that lists that device, it will work on the JasJar as well.

Ah, that explains why a normal 3 conductor headphone won't work. I bought my jasjar used so it didn't come with their 4 conductor headset. Thanks a ton. I wish there was a 4 to 3 conductor adapter so I could use my "the Boom" headset.

Maybe this will work?

http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~Cingular_8125-559~area~accessories-audio~item~PPCPADPT03.htm

It says it will allow one to use a standard 2.5mm headset plug with a 4-conductor PPC jack. Anyone have experience with this?

That won't help. It is intended for an 8125 which has a 2.5mm jack. You have a 3.5mm jack on your JasJar.

This might work though,

Haven't tried one myself.

There are things you can get to help you directly
http://www.pc-mobile.net/px50aa.htm for example, or

Cool I believe I have an adapter that will work with that one ... now if I can only find it!
