We don't have it working on Windows Mobile devices yet as we have not yet found a 3GP player which supports RTSP (alas, CorePlayer won't work). I believe this will work on Nokia smart phones, but it's as of yet untested since we don't have a Nokia phone to try it on. If anyone can give us some help there it would be appreciated."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/Screen001.gif" /><br /><span><i>Graphic from <a href="http://solsie.com/httpmyoutubecom-open-for-business/">solsie.com</a></i></span><br /><br />YouTube mobile has soft launched using the address <a href="http://m.youtube.com">http://m.youtube.com</a>. Since it streams 3GP files using the RTSP protocol, it doesn't yet support Windows Mobile devices. The above linked post to <a href="http://www.technologyevangelist.com/2007/01/technology_evangelis_4.html">Technology Evangelist</a> shows a list of currently supported devices. The site is nice and clean but you just can't watch the videos...yet. I tried using the similar TCPMP player and received an error message that the RTSP protocol was not supported. If you're wondering what it looks like after a successful launch, check out this video <a href="http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/video/a-tour-of-mobile-youtube-269525.php">posted on Gizmodo</a>. If you find a way to play the stream, please post it! Until then, it looks like <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=55402">downloading the Flash ".flv" file</a> is our only option.

Works perfectly on my HTC TyTN on WM6. HTC includes an app called "streaming media" made to play RealPlayer crap, but it plays the youtube content just fine.

Yep, all the latest HTC devices which includes the "Streaming Media" player application can stream .3GP files fine (3GP isn't Real but an MPEG4 standard of its own).

I have a video here where I playback YouTube mobile on a HTC Touch: http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=3930

isn't Adobe/Macromedia supposed to release a new version of flash player lite this summer with FLV support?

I have HTC advantage with streaming media player, but when I use IE to open you tube site video, I get an error message that either java script is not enabed or I do not have flash player.
I try to copy the URL ( I am not sure as there is no 'rtsp' in the link) in to streaming player, I get can not connect. may be I am doing something wrong. let me know, how I can play them using streaming player.
Thanks

As we still can not find the way to stream YouTube video (http://m.youtube.com) directly to WM device (without HCT Media Streaming Player). Therefore you can only manually download YouTube videos using http://keepvid.com to .flv format then playback with TCPMP (http://solsie.com/tcpmp-plugin-play-flash-video-flv-directly-on-wm-devices/).

However the best way to catch the latest obviously would be using RSS feeds.

YouTube offers several RSS feeds for categorized groups of videos (such as recently uploaded, top viewed etc) as well as customized feeds for users and tags.

I posted an article to explain how to aggregate and playback YouTube videos on WM device with RSS here:
http://solsie.com/how-to-aggregate-youtube-videos-with-rss-and-play-on-wm-device/

I think I was using www.youtube.com instead of m.youtube.com and secondly, connecting to internet through activesync did not allow streaming player to find the network but through wifi I was able to watch videos.

Adobe announced work on a Flash Lite 3 player w while ago. It's supposed to support video. It was never clear to me if that meant it actually would support YouTube, but it **should**.

Works fine on my Nokia E62 - well... the first video I tried (Plane Landing -- EEK) was fine, but the second one crashed the phone - twice!! - while loading in Real Player. Then I gave up.

You've tested it?

Then shouldn't that be: Apple CLAIMS it will work just fine.

I'll be curious to see the performance over EDGE with it...

My Nokia E62 uses Cingular/AT&amp;T EDGE. There was no problem with speed/performance.

Perhaps this is why AT&amp;T upped the speed of their EDGE network recently.

Nokia N75 on AT&amp;T works fine. Loads in realplayer. I watched the Plane landing also.

For the record, it was a quote from the Tech Evangelist site and I can take no credit for it, but glad it's working on the750. So, do you think it's something you'll use?

Or you can install Opera Mobile and the Adobe Flash Player 7 for Pocket PC... ouTube works just well with this combination. Not the most "mobile" experience though.

I have a Treo 750v but always get connecting error after Streaming Media opens. I am using UMTS with about 230kbps speed. Is it because I am not in the US?

As for the technical aspect it works quite ok, only I am not fond of the QVGA screen resolutions (the Treo is my latest attempt to get a decent qwerty touchscreen phone with Skype capability for my wife) so I personally would want a VGA phone to check it out on.

What limits my personal interest at this time is that only very few videos are available at this time, if you try to search just about any word you can think of you'll get this "Only a portion of YouTube videos are available on mobile at this time. We are working hard to bring you more!"

But hey you can try that yourself too on any "regular" computer:
http://m.youtube.com/

P.S. On the iPhone I wonder if that is an m.youtube.com or www.youtube.com I have a feeling it is m.youtube.com as it was just added to the "features" the past few days...but who knows, if it does "normal" youtube, that will be a decent selling gimick I'm sure.

Shouldn't be any difference between the 750 and 750v but who knows, if not it would seem to be a network issue rather than a device issue? Which is newer the 750v or 750? Being that these are made by HTC also it could touch on the subject touched on above around HTC devices..

750v is older than the 750. maybe after the upcoming WM6 ROM update it'll work better and hopefully more content has been transferred to m.youtube too since palm is taking their sweet time on releasing the update.

I have a At&amp;T 750 and it doesn't work on it?
