Operating on the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network, the Mogul by HTC is the first CDMA device in the U.S. with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Professional Edition and will also be the first handset from Sprint that will support EV-DO Rev. A data speeds via a free software upgrade that will be made available at a later date."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20070618-SprintMogul.jpg" /><br /><br />Other touted features over the PPC-6700 include longer battery life, 256MB ROM, smaller design, 2MP camera, and thumbwheel. Hey, the PR also suggests the unit has J2ME support, the first Pocket PC for Sprint to do so. Also looks like the unit has support for Sprint Music Store -- not sure how they implemented that. It's available for $399 with a two-year agreement, and is on their website already. Anyone getting it? :-D

The real question of the day is "does this phone support free tethering" like the PPC-6700, or is there a work around?

I wish Sprint could jam in the Sprint TV services as well. I miss my LG Fusik and my NFL Network TV feed....

I am considering this device.

I have been using a Sprint cell phone for about 7 years and I am happy with my service. I also use an Axim x50v pocket PC.

After using the Axim for the last couple of years, I have really grown to love a VGA screen, and I have generally considered it to be a must-have feature for myself. However, now that I want to move to a converged device, I am beginning to think that I am going to have to learn to live without it once again and go back to QVGA. There just don't seem to be many converged devices that incorporate VGA screen that will be made available in the United States.

I will probably wait out the summer just to see if any new options become available. Otherwise, I just may go with this device.

Does anyone know if the Ultimate series of devices will be available in the US???

I used to be with Sprint as you are, I also love my VGA screens, knowing that carriers in the US don't offer any I switched to over to T-Mo who uses gsm and I now import my phones. I'm loving my Jasjar right about now, both of them for that matter.
See with GSM you can import virtually anyphone out there that support the US GSM networks, which I would guestimate would be about 90% of handhelds on the market.
Don't get me wrong... I love Sprint I really really really love Sprint with their affordabel plans and superspeed network, but I like VGA screens, and the freedom to switch devices day-to-day just a tad bit better that I like Sprint. Enogh to make me bite the bullet and go GSM. I'm still suffering from the withdrawl symptoms 8O. But if you take the plundge, just know that I'm there for ya.
Man I can't wait for the I-Mate Ultimate Series comes out.

The problem with this strategy is that the Jasjar is 1900MHz-only, meaning you're missing on some US coverage, and worse, its 3G frequencies do not exist in the US, so you can't use it for UMTS. :(

I attempted to order the phone on the website today. Not only did they lock up twice the cost of the phone, but I never got an order number. I have been on the phone for over3 hours today trying to verify that the phone was ordered and when I can expect to see it. No one can find the order and now there is a 611 dollar credit on my account that no one can explain.

I still don't know if I am getting the phone or if my funds will be double charged or not. Got to love Sprint incompetence.

Updated 06-20-07- Okay although Sprint did mess up the order and could not get me an order number or tracking information, I did get my phone yesterday. However, I still have about $1200 locked up in my bank account. Looking forward to getting half of that back at some point. I guess I will have to enjoy the phone an extra $600 for a while.

Updated 6-22-07 - At last! They finally decided that they were not going to need that extra $600. Only 5 days later!

How do you go about importing a device? Is this really a good option? How does this affect warranties, service, etc?

It bums me out that its not possible to get VGA phone here in the US.

Since I'm not a Sprint customer, I'll have to wait until they send me one to review!

It does look like a nice device, though. I have a T-Mo MDA and love the form factor of the device, and this is pretty close to it.

I have the Mogul from Sprint -- great data device; so-so phone... The perfect device for me though... especially with the $30/mo SERO plan...
