h3900 series PPC 2003 OS upgrade

I'm looking for an OS upgrade to PPC 2003 for ROM version 1.0, The only thing I've been able to find so far only works with ROM version 4.0, not with my device as it is.

Does anyone have any information about this or know where I should look next? I'm finding it very frustrating!!!

I know that Ebay had people selling the instructions on how to update my iPAQ 3850 to WM2003, but I don't remember if that included 3900 series as well. The process worked fine. They charge like $5 US, and include the link to get the firmware download.

Yeah,

Thats where I got the software upgrade I DID find, after 2 bogus attempts. The only one that looks like the Real McCoy only works for ROM version 4.0, not for my device.

Frustration!!!

that is the link to the latest rom update for the h3950/3955. as u can see the latest version is v1.11. not 4.0

so what ipaq model do you have?

if you are willing to I can try it on my 3950 and see what happens. if so I can give you an e-mail address to send it to.

I'm not certain which exact model my iPAQ is...

On the back it says Compaq iPAQ 3900 series.

Under Settings/Assets it says Compaq iPAQ H3900, with processor type Intel PXA250, revision B2.

The OS version is listed as Revision Level 2.5, ROM Date 06/21/02, ROM Version 1.00.00 ENG

It seems the folks at Compaq, and later at HP, were kept pretty busy. I just wish their work were more integrated.

Any help or suggestions you, or anyone can offer would be most appreciated!

On the back it says Compaq iPAQ 3900 series.

if you look on the back it sholud have a few barcodes and serial numbers,
then it should say, in much larger writing:

MODEL:
3950.

thats what it says for me. and if we have the same pda it should make it much easier to work this out.
i have an upgrade for wm2003 in german but i have exams for the next week. so i will wait till then before i try to upgrade mine, because i cant understand german, and changing the language from german to english will require some work.
if you send me your copy of the english wm2003 upgrade it would also make things easier.

I'm just curious, was the upgrade different then the 4.0 for my 3850? I thought they were the same.

I have a friend with a 36xx series, would his be 4.0, or the one like your 3900 series?
