While some details were released in advance, the finished version will still have its 2.6-inch touchscreen, GPS navigation, and quad-band GSM radio with EDGE Internet but will also make use of Windows Mobile 6 Professional, guaranteeing the inclusion of Office Mobile."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/hisham-20070514-asusp526.jpg" /><br /><br />Slimmer, much lighter, and sporting WM6 Pro, EDGE and a SirfStar III chip, the P526 is an odd mixture of improvements and one big step back over the preceding P525 - yup, we have yet another TI OMAP device. Apart from the downgrade in the processor, the P526 sports half decent specs for a mid-range WM phone though not to the point I'd get overly excited about it. No news yet on global or US availability, though the original launch date was supposed to be this month.

Well, with all these OMAP's my shortlist is becoming.......short. Again a NO GO for me.

I think OMAPs are ok for Smartphones [Standard] but a bit underpowered for PocketPCs [Pro] still the ASUS looks like it's on the budget PPC phone side so I guess they went with the OMAP to lower the price.

Any idea when ASUS will release a PPC with their GPS with the new windows Pro6 OS?

Or if there will be upgrades for their other PPCs. I want to get the 639 but I really want the new OS.

Thanks

You mean apart from the subject of this post? The 526 should be out any day now.
