I think the majority of people would agree that just taking the JasJar body and upgrading it would have been sufficient. A JasJar, but with quad band GSM, EDGE, tri band 3g, wireless b/g, bluetooth 2.0 and WM6 (and maybe another 128MB of memory and a better camera) would have made a killer device.

Even at the same price ;)? FWIW, I basically agree with you. Having seen one in the flesh, I have a hard time visualizing bringing this around on a daily basis.

Yeah, it seems like too awkward for a phone, not capable enough to be a laptop PC.

For pricing, I would think that an improved JasJar would not be the $1200 to $1500 prices we are seeing for the X7500. But when it first came out, JasJar's were going for about $1100 from legit stores, so it wasn't far off the price that the X7500's are now. Now, I see JasJar's for $600 new :)

Eventually, 7500's will settle to the $1000-$1100 range. If you wait a year, they could probably be had for $800, which would be more reasonable.

I would have been happy with a JasJar upgrade too - quadband, slightly larger screen, more RAM, GPS ...
