I got my ipaq hx2415 2 years ago. It works very well, including connecting to internet via wi-fi. I never used bluetooth, I tried it 3 days ago. It did not pair to any bluetooth device. It's OK, I don't care. BUT after that the device can not make wi-fi turn on. Every time the power of device turns on, a box pops up titled "Unrecognized card". Under the title it reads "Enter the name of the device driver for this card. For information see the card manufacturer's documentation". Under that, an INPUT box with "Unknown Card in Socket 2" highlighted in blue. Under it there are 2 options: "OK" and "Cancel".
Since I don't know the name of the driver, I sometimes tap "Cancel", sometimes tap "OK". Then the box disappeared.
Then I tap the wireless icon on the lower right-hand corner of the Today screen to try to turn wi-fi on. Tap "Setting", appears "Configure Network Adapters". Tap "Manager", it shows "Driver not loaded". Then tap "version", under Wireless LAN Information all show "Driver not loaded".
I tried soft reset, hard reset, rom update (although the rom used is the newest), take battery out for 30 seconds...., the problem remains.
I used HP active chat to discuss this problem with 2 specialists, all their suggestions did not solve the problem. I was asked to send it to HP to repair. The repair center told me the system board should be replaced and the price is more than $200. Definitely it is not worth repairing.
I really don't know whether this problem is related to using bluetooth, because it worked fine before turning bluebooth on and after hard reset when I restore back-up file it shows there is some sharing violation with some bluetooth files.
Has anybody experienced such problem? Please help!

I've got EXACTLY the same problem with my iPAQ 2750. The only difference is that it was not the bluetooth that triggered the whole thing. It just stopped working after 2 years of normal life. The only thing I haven't tried is the hard reset. Unfortunately I don't have currently any solutions but will be extremely grateful to anyone with some positive ideas.

The Wi-Fi of my hx2415 can't be turned on due to an "Unrecognized Card" or "Driver not loaded". I'm thinking to buy a wi-fi compact flash card but don't know whether it can be used in order to make this ipaq connect internet. Does anyone have an idea about it?

make a backup and hard reset. If it doesn't work in a fresh reset state then it is a definite hardware problem. Depending on budget, lots of other options are available.

I don't mean to point out the simple solution, because you have probably already tried it, but is it possible that it just needs the wi-fi drivers re-installed. Its possible the bluetooth over wrote a file when you activated it for the first time. There should be drivers on HPs site. I had received the same "device in slot 2 error" when I first inserted my CF wireless card before I had installed the drivers.

Just a thought.

Good luck,

Good luck,

Chris - Legacy Handhelds (http://www.legacyhandhelds.com)I don't mean to point out the simple flaw that is device has integrated wifi. and BT. My suggestion that he attempt to run it from a factory fresh state...which he'd done...negates the possibility of software/ driver conflicts. It's a definite hardware issue.
