Hi everyone. Wifi's not been working on my Loox720 for absolutely ages, &,
on checking the forum, the advice seemed to be that maybe E2C had wrecked
it, & it needed a rebuild.

I've been putting off the rebuild for approx a year now, but the other
day, I bit the bullet, & got stuck into the hard reset & a rebuild
including 30+ products [& many licence keys etc], which took many hours
of effort.

Most of the apps are working again now.. but Wifi is still iffy as hell.

Sometimes [25% of the time] it works fine - Switch on Wifi, comms bubble
shows with many networks, select the right one, & away you go. The remainder
of the time, putting Wifi on seems to do nothing for 2+ mins, then the
'comms icon' switches from having a cross in it, to the 'comms available'
sign [similar to an '=' sign] at the top of screen. However, no pages
get served up by PIE. Selecting 'Configure Wireless Networks' | 'Add
New' at this stage, causes the PDA to hang, & require a soft reset.

I currently use Wififofum as my Wireless net browser, but find that it
more often than not doesn't work [which is probably linked to the 720
h/w misperforming..?]. When it works ok, it's shown up to 18 APs available,
with the number being constantly refreshed [14/18 -> 15/18 etc], but
right-clicking & selecting 'Connect', either crashes it, or does
nothing.

Argh!!

Can anyone offer any advice please?

Many thanks! Mark.

I've retraced the steps over what I did on this, plus had backups to recover to at various stages.
Basically, the backup at stage3 worked & stage4 didn't..
Looking over my notes, I think I did a recovery 'over' the existing software between the stages, causing some sort of merge action, rather than starting back from the hard reset position.
I did this to see if it would work [it sort of did], without realising it might ruin what I was trying to achieve in the first place.
Wifi, at least for now, is working again!! Some important lessons learnt though! [+ I have all my licence keys together again!].

I'm glad you got that sorted Mark - just a word of advice:

Don't touch E2C
Don't even look at it
Delete every reference to it on your device, including links and registry entries

Thanks! I'd describe the above as, er, learning the hard way!!
