Hello,

I'm looking for a simple alarm app to use to wake me up in the morning. I have an XV6700 running WM5.

the built-in app sucks and wouldn't turn off the alarm the other day.

Any suggestions?

Well, I don't know what your price range is, and I'm sure there are freeware alternatives out there, but my vote goes for either of the two below. They aren't free (although they aren't really expensive either) but they work for me!

* Spb Time. Great app for a polished appearance, alarms for each day, stopwatch and countdown timers to boot. It wakes me up in the morning, and I can use it to time subjects in experiments I run.

* SK ScheMa. The ultimate scripting tool for Pocket PC. Not for the novice, but it offers a "reminder" command that is extremely customizable. I have mine set to do morning alarms as well as to vibrate for various lengths of time each day (i.e. vibrate for 6 seconds at 2:30, vibrate for 12 seconds at 3:00, etc..) so I don't have to continually glance at my device (I don't wear a watch).

Might want to try this one. Supposed to be very reliable, and it's free.

Whichever app you choose, WM5 still fails to alarm on time for many users. The combination of Alarm Today http://www.pocketmax.net/index.html and Mem Maid http://www.dinarsoft.com/memmaid/ has prevented missed alarms for me.

I have been using Chronos for several months now and I am very happy with it. It is very realiable and is supposed to automatically corrects the corruption of WM5 alarm list if necessary (I do not seen to have suffered from this problem on my Hermes).

I'll give another vote for Chronos. I've been using it for almost a year and it's what wakes me up every day (to Nick Drake's "From the Morning"). It's a very simple app to use, but is also highly configurable. Another plus is you can set unlimited alarms and choose the days for each. For example, I set my Wednesday alarm a little earlier than the rest of the week since that is trash day.

may be a little OT... but

thanks for this recommendation... i can imagine the other possibilities that can be worked out from this stuff...

thanks!!!

I have been using pTravelAlarm for the last few months and I've been really impressed with it. It does everything I want it to do (multiple simultaneous alarms, different tones for different alarms, etc) and is quite small.

I'll second the vote for Ptravelalarm. Been using it daily for years and never a problem. Did a bit of testing for Burr Oak when the VGA screen PDAs first came out. Nice people and easy to work with.

I will also chime in and say that pTravelAlarm is the way to go! I have been using it for years and it has never failed me!
