I did a search and didn't find an answer to a simple question I have. Let's say I buy an imported PPC Phone from a 3rd-party store (take for example a Softbank X01HT - a Hermes derivative). Where would I take the device to get it fixed if it ever broke down? Am I stuck with a broken device or can I take it to let's say...HTC and have them fix it?

You'll have to contact the reseller you purchased it from, or the company whose logo is on the device. In most import cases, it's the former. If you picked up the X01HT, HTC won't fix it as they have no obligation to.
