<i>"With Windows Mobile 6, Microsoft set a skilled handyman to work on the creakier joists of their mobile OS, but they stopped well short of a gut renovation. The new OS is really more of an honorable version 5.5 than a true 6 – an accumulation of new, useful features that doesn't disturb the OS's underpinnings or solve some of its deeper problems."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20070304-WM6PCMag.jpg" /><br /><br />Looking for a few more reviews of Windows Mobile 6 to help you decide whether you should buy a WM5 device now or wait for WM6 devices? <a href="http://www.laptopmag.com/Review/Windows-Mobile-6.htm">Laptop Magazine</a> and <a href="http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2092473,00.asp">PC Magazine</a> (pictured, quoted above) have put up articles so you can get yet more opinions. If you've been tracking WM6 closely, there's probably nothing new in either, but it's still heartening to see that the mainstream media is finally starting to write detailed and balanced Windows Mobile reviews as opposed to simple generalizations.

I dunno - WM 6 may be pretty amazing after all. Seems this device knows it has a voicemail but doesn't actually have a SIM card inserted. Maybe it's the new ESP feature - the device has a hunch you have a voicemail :)

[i]"With Windows Mobile 6, Microsoft set a skilled handyman to work on the creakier joists of their mobile OS,

By far, the "creakiest joist" of Windows Mobile is what it always has been--ActiveStync! It's always been bad, and hasn't improved at all, it has only got worse--less features, but more importantly, more problems syncing.

The best mobile OS in the world is no good if it cannot sync properly to desktop computers.

I recently "upgraded" from the AS 4.5 beta to 4.5 final version. I wish I stayed with the beta. I've had a lot more problems with the final version. Why can't Microsoft get AS straightened out????

I don't know if their new "Device Center" for Vista is better, but since most people are still using XP, and will do so for quite some time, they really need to fix the program that works with XP. That should be their number one development priority, much higher than adding features to WM6.

I wouldn't be surprised if many people have given up on WM due to problems syncing. When will Microsoft focus their considerable development staff into fixing this miserably poor sync program!

If anyone reading has any connections to Microsoft, please let them know that this should be by far their first priority with WM development--fixing ActiveSync!!!!!!
