<img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20070214-glofiishm700a.jpg" /><br /><br />As a follow-up to my <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,53297">Glofiish X500 review</a>, I'll be analyzing the similarly-spec'ed <a href="http://www.etencorp.com/products/Communication/M700.php">Glofiish M700</a> and posting a review of it sometime in the next fortnight. The M700 packs some punch with a Samsung S3C2442 400MHz CPU, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, GPS (SiRFstar III), an FM radio (with RDS support), a 2.0-megapixel camera, a 2.8" QVGA touch screen, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It runs Windows Mobile 5.0 (AKU 3.2), although there's a rumour floating around that it (and the X500) will be upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6. Fact or fiction, we'll learn more in the near future. You can find additional pictures after the break, and if there's anything you'd like me to address in the review, let it be known in this thread. <!><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20070214-glofiishm700b.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20070214-glofiishm700c.jpg" />

There's a news release on E-Ten website that M700 will have Mobile office 2006, but still have WM5

Actually, the press release refers to the debut of the M700 at Mobile Office 2006 (a European trade show). It bears no relevance to Office Mobile or Windows Mobile 6.

I know this may sound extremely simplistic, but could you review the bundled carry case as well? I always pay attention to that kind of detail. And perhaps an in-depth test with a TyTN or something of the like will be nice. Thanks in advance.

No problem. That was on my agenda.

I don't have a TyTN, but I do have a few other Pocket PC Phones that I'll compare it with.

Cool. Which devices, if I may ask, are these?

If you can also review the best available ROM to use with this device I'd really appreciate it.

I am an ETEN M600 user and I would like to see if I'm willing to upgrade to the M700 if it is less of a pain to maintain when I have my ETEN M600 stable enough less the problems it had when I bought it. :)

E-TEN Glofiish X500 (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,53297), E-TEN M600 (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,44578), and benchmark comparisons with other devices such as the Dell Axim X50v, Axim X51v, i-mate JASJAR, and Sprint PPC-6700.

I received it with ROM 300, but am now running ROM 354; the latter feels more solid. If any are released in the near future, I'll be sure to test them out and update my review accordingly.

That's great that Eten may be upgrading existing models but have you heard anything about the slightly older models (m600+)?

It's a good device.. The Star Trek Voyager styling is a bit tacky... But I can live with it. I like the GPS... I'm not sure about the keyboard with fairly flat keys. I like the Treo cause of it's separated and slightly pointed keys.

Now that I know about WM6, I won't touch a device without it.

that's good to hear. I'd be looking forward for the more comprehensive review.

Uncertain at this stage. Theoretically, the M600s and G500s are upgradeable, but I'm not sure if E-TEN would be willing to support a product cycle that far back (although it'd be nice if they did).

I heard that in the past the microphone and voice capabilities of the E-Ten devices are pour. Were these improved in the M 700?

In addition, is the operation system stable?

Thanks in advance!
