I have to say this is somewhat dissapointing.
You have two PocketPC PE editions with WM5, one P3350 is actually comming in Q2, while everyone else is comming out with WM6.
Also:
- the Athena is still big and expensive - and while it has great HW specs I still can't think of any real use for this thing. Except maybe as a very nice and very expensive Reader - maybe it's just me...
- the P3350 (Love) is even more dissapointing, no 3G, only OMAP 200MHz CPU and 256MB Flash in "Multimedia" device. And why is this coming in Q2 (it should be Q2 2006 as far as I'm concerned), to compete with iPhone?

The only OK thing here is the S710 (VOX) and even this is lacking 3G...

Now either HTC is really dropping the ball, considering what others have announced in last couple of days or they have a whole new secret lineup hidden somewhere.

The Athena might be good for a in car mobile/navigation system since it's rather large.

I'm not feeling the Love from Love [it's available here in Asia already as the dopod M700]
--
The Vox seems like a worthy Weekend phone something I might get as a 2ndary mobile

Waiting for HTC to layeth the smacketh down on i-mate's Ultimate Edition... I wonder what they will come up with to trump the Ultimate Ed? Also waiting for the rumoured Hermes replacement codename Kaiser and the Universal replacement codename Omni... Where are they?

Being Pocket PC Thoughts, it's worth pointing out that the HTC S710 (Vox) runs Windows Mobile 6 Standard (so in the old tongue, that's a Smartphone). It's probably my preferred of the three. The HTC Advantage (edit: seehtc.com (http://www.seehtc.com/index.html) is worth visiting), as nice as it is, has a huge price tag and a huge opportunity cost.

Same here, it's really strange that they didn't even hint on devices like Kaiser and Omni. Maybe they didn't want to hurt potential sales of Athena & co.?

Well hopefully their Q2 lineup is more appealing than their Q1 lineup... I'm itching to buy a new device but I guess now that WM6 is out it should have WM6 so the Athena and Love are out unless they get free WM6 upgrades. The Vox will probably take longer since that'll probably be an Orange exclusive for awhile. Wonder if the Vox reaches the Philippines though [we still don't have the Excalibur if you can believe it, I guess the distributor for the Philippines is really cautious on what models to bring in]

I'm not bothered by the lack of WM 6. I like the Advantage. I'm thinking it should work on Cingular, perhaps? But I'm not sure. It uses a SIM card, and would it have to be unlocked? Can anyone tell me? And I didn't see the price, but I imagine it's breathtaking. 8O

if I were ATT I would not let any of these phones on my network until HTC put an HSDPA modem and WM6 in all of them. These are ridiculous.

After seeing the news about the Toshiba and i-Mate devices yesterday, it's really hard to get excited about these, especially knowing the price point of the Athena. But alas, we are only geeks here, so maybe the masses will prove us otherwise.

Yes, it would.

Yep.

And I didn't see the price, but I imagine it's breathtaking.

Estimated at $1,700.

.... phffffff.... That's the sound of my e800 just realizing that it gets a year or so stay of execution.

I'm not saying that I've lost any geek-love for the Athena and its form factor, I'm just saying I'm gonna keep my options open for awhile and see what else is out there.

I just bought an 9-month-old used Samsung Q1 UMPC and am having it shipped from the States at a price far below half of that quote. I'm thinking I'll just run the WM5 emulator on that if I really need some a place for my WM software.

Aarrrggh! Yep, breathtaking. 8O

Thanks so much for answering my questions, though.
