Before I started over on my PPC (hard reset, reinstall a limited no. of app's etc.) a few weeks back, I noticed that in the Notifications Queue I had a ridiculously large number of items that look like this:

\\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\SCRIPT:0x00abcde (where abcde is a hexadecimal no. with that many digits)

After the hard reset, I only had two of those items in the queue. Now, I have five. I'm really curious to know what they are and what they are supposed to do. I can't work out what they are associated with, or what event triggers off the appearance of a new one. I don't know whether they are safe to delete or whether I should leave them well alone.

Can anyone here throw some light on these queue items? I'd appreciate it.

Martin.

This thread http://www.mtekk.com.au/Forums/tabid/56/forumid/17/tpage/1/view/topic/postid/34334/Default.aspx#34337 seems to suggest it's related to having the LED flash for a fixed time on a notification.

Thanks JonMisurda - I really appreciate the link. I never notice a flashing LEDs as a notification reminder anyway, so I've been and disabled it in all the notification types. Given the apparently 'random' occurrence of these items in the queue, the fact that it is related to the 'LED flash on notification' settings really does make sense. Thanks again.

Just saw this app too:

http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/taskmanager.shtml

Claims to clean up the notifications of that sort.
