Resembling the company's existing <a href="http://au.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=8&l2=0&l3=0&model=1172&modelmenu=1">P525 model</a> in many ways, the Pegasus boasts phone and GPS capabilities in a slim 15.4mm brushed aluminum shell, with a camera and a numeric keypad thrown in for good measure. Additional specs are still an unknown, and availability is an even bigger question mark, so it's simply a waiting game from hereon.

Looking for a upgrade for my old Axim 5 and was looking at their 51V

Slick design, but I wonder how it will feel in the hand? Devices with the portrait-style screen and keypad on the bottom always run the risk of being too tall.

I prefer a taller phone (my favorite phone ever was my Qualcomm ThinPhone 2760, circa 1998). I'm not a small person (6'5"), and today's tiny phones feel insignificant in-hand.

I really like the looks of this PDA/phone. Definitely a converged device I'd consider - if it works with T-Mobile....

I am trying to decide whether to wait for the Pegasus (to be branded the 526) to come out, or just get the 525. The GPS seems to be the only substantial difference - besides the fact that, at least from the photos, the Pegasus seems to have left out a flash/torch.

I assume one handed operation will be the same as the 525 except you use a jog dial ont he side rather than the joystick in the middle of the 525's keypad.

The new OS certainly appeals since I hear there's some bluetooth stack issues with WM5, which could be a prob since I use BT GPS (Destinator). But I'm not really sure what makes WM6 so much better so probably no.

Yes, the P526 will ship with Windows Mobile 5.0, but it's capable of running Windows Mobile 6 as demonstrated at 3GSM.

It's still uncertain as to whether we'll see Asus ship a P526 with Windows Mobile 6 separately, or release Windows Mobile 6 as an upgrade for existing P526s.

Thanks mate, I googled 3GSM ASUS 526 and foudn your great summary page.

Thanks for clearing up the deal with WM6. From what I can tell, the biggest complaint about the P525 is the inability to find contacts with the phone pad without third party software. WM6 seems to address this, according to reviews, which I think is the real reason why the P526 will be a true one handed phone (ie, it's notjust it's ergonomics).

I was quite set on getting the P525 but the more I read, the more I am baffled at why such a fundamental phone function such as looking up a contact cannot be done easily with the keypad. Even in the manual, it says the only way to look up a contact to call is to "tap"!

Disappointing for a device that really has a lot going for it.
