My readers (see for example this post (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&title=great_ppc_phone_edition_and_a2dp_related&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1)) probably already know about two Pocket PC Phone Edition-specific SMS export utilities, Jeyo Mobile Extender (which, unfortunately, has severe problems with more than a few hundred SMS messages stored on a given PPC PE device) and Dopod SMS Backup (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283080), which is pretty simple and only supports exporting. There has always been a third alternative, zedsoft.net's smsOrganizer, but, up to now, it wasn't WM5-compliant and, therefore, I haven't reviewed it.
The author of the latter, zedsoft.net, has just announced (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1086601) the WM5 version to be out.
Give it a try - it's by far the most powerful SMS organizer I know and is really worth giving it a try. It's available here (http://www.zedsoft.net/).
