Hello, I'm new here. I have an HP Ipaq hx2410 on the way and was wondering if it was possible that I would be able to use Yahoo Messenger on my new Ipaq?

I did a search and the only thing I came up with was either using Agile (sp?) messenger which is not free anymore, or using http://wap.oa.yahoo.com/ which seems a bit inconvinient.

Thanks,

clipse

(BTW this is a great place. It will be my first pocket pc and I'm absolutely stoked about it.)

Welcome to Pocket PC Thoughts.

There is a Yahoo Messenger for Pocket PC, but it's so old and retired by Yahoo that it's not even worth installing (in most cases, you can't even get it to install). Your best bet would be to use Agile (or one of the other multi-protocol IM clients), or wait for the interoperability update to the MSN Messenger client on the Pocket PC. Thanks to an agreement from many months ago, MSN and Yahoo contacts can now chat with each other.

The existing mobile client will require an update to enable Yahoo/MSN interoperability. Whatever update you're referring to isn't it.

Thanks for the welcome. Is this (http://ideas.live.com/ProgramPage.aspx?versionId=fb5c3c0b-0ea3-4661-8dad-e4887a687c7d&pageId=0) the MSN Messenger client that you're talking about. I know Messenger Live (on my desktop pc) works so I can talk to my yahoo pals, Messenger Live for mobile is still in beta form. I don't have my Ipaq and probably won't have it untill Monday so I can try out the Beta form and see if it works like what I'm wanting. Agile looks awesome but, I'ld rather use something that didn't cost if I could. Then I can save that money for other more important programs that I'm wanting.

Thanks,

That's the web-based version. I was actually referring to this (http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=3155).
