Nevertheless, it's worth looking at if you're one of the few remaining with a CF-enabled device (like me) and are interested in a GPS add-on solution. Positives include the excellent SiRFStar III chipset as well as the decreased size and improved portability that comes with the CF form-factor (relative to the alternative Bluetooth GPS solution). the idea sounds cool, but looking at the pic, looks like a bluetooth gps unit glued on top of a cf 1gb card. and at $220, u could just get a bluetooth gps and a 1 gb card...my ppc has both sd and cf slots. i get best of both worlds at half the cost. $30 for 1gb sd card, $30 for bluetooth cf card and $50 bluetooth gps unit.

either way it not going to make it look slim in your pocket.

u would think that companies would make use of new technologies like a 1gb micro sd card inside this cf card and also a gps unit from a ppc device. that way it looks like a regular cf card and then i would pay big buck for the form factor.

I like the idea, but it is priced to high. If you shop around these days you can find a dedicated GPS device with touch screen, full USA street maps and touch screen for the same price. Now I know there is the convenience factor, but with a converged PPC device, I really prefer a dedicated GPS, as I don't want to drain my device's battery while driving around. Weird I know...

I have owned one for about 6months now (Why is this news now?).

Anyway it is a terrific GPS, fast lock and I just have all my GPS software (Co-Pilot, Topo,) and it's all there when I need it and all together for next time when I don't.

Good idea, but I don't see why it had to be so large!! That part sticking out of the CF slot is outrageously big. My bluetooth GPS would be about the same size as the part sticking out of the slot, and it has a bluetooth chip and 900mAh battery in it as well!!

It's not the first unit of it's kind. The Garmin cfQue 1620 has been out for years (admittedly, with only 64MB flash, and an old chipset), and I own one.

By the way, this is not a Bluetooth unit (why would it be, since it is directly inserted in the PPC CF Card Slot).

What I do not like about this type of GPS is how bulky they get. Certainly, to me my next unit will be Bluetooth, and not one of these. In addition the price is way too high, assuming it comes with no software.

I recently lost my Holux BT GPS. I would get a new one if it can be had for $50. I didn't see any units going that low on ebay. Which current models are the better ones.
