Any user's comments on that software ?
I remember a brave reporter reviewed some DVD rip to PPC software long time ago .... I think the guy was flying to Asia ... with his wife .... ;-)
Anybody can locate that review ?

2.0 &amp; 3.0 would crash on multiple computers with different configs and I could never get support to reply to one email.

I agree. I had a hard time contacting their support too. They don't answer their emails promptly based on my experience.

What gets me about makayama is that they are ripping off Open Source software and not respecting the GPL. Where is the source code for the GPL licensed OSS that is used? How about the UI which clearly is integrated into the source code?

When we contacted them about the fact that they are violating the GPL for TCPMP they opted to say "sue us"... as they are in the Netherlands thats not likely gonna happen.

Avoid them at all costs.

Makayama: Nothing but trouble. Bad software, even worse customer service. They simply suck more than black hole.

DVD Catalyst: Way better. Let me say it again: WAAAAAAY better. Excellent conversion for my Archos AV500, my 6700 and my PSP.

Stay away from Makayama. They do not deserve your money.

My only beef with DVD Catalyst is how the files tend to be bigger than they need to be size-wise; I've ripped h.264 files (at rather high quality, mind you) of SG-1 episodes, and found the file sizes were perhaps a third larger than would be absolutely required for the same bitrate using other encoders. But it's rather easy to use (pick the track, with video preview) and go.

PURCHASE THIS SOFTWARE AT YOUR OWN RISK...

Makayama is far and away the worst company you will EVER have to deal with especially since the high probability the software wont even work.

I (based on first hand experience) highly recomend avoiding these con artists at any cost.

DVD Catalyst has met every question Ive had head on and it clearly shows in a terrific product.

Pocketgear must be in on the con as they REFUSE to honor a clearly defective product with a refund. In over 20 yrs in the PC industry this is the worst purchase Ive ever made (and I bought Windows ME for my home PC).
