Are there any Cf/PCMCIA GSM cards that work with the Jornada 560 seiries? THe Jornada 560 series IMHO is the most stable, close to perfect pocket pc out there. I would really think it would be neat to turn it into a simple cell phone. IF i could get a card for it, what service could I use and how would I set it up? Thanks! :)

Ah ha...this is one of those posts that when you hit submit nothing happens. The post is lost in cyber-space for 2-3 years then mysteriously appears. :) j/k

There are CF GSM cards that will work with the HP560. There are some drawbacks though. First, you need to leave the device on at all times, so battery life sucks big time. Secondly the only way to use it is with a wired headset. You can't hold up to your ear, or use a speakerphone. All mic and sound is through the headset. The upside, IF you come across one of these cards is that they should be dirt cheap nowadays.

Good luck

You can find these things on ebay. see http://cgi.ebay.com/Audiovox-Toshiba-RTM-8000-RTM-8000D-GSM-GPRS-CF-Card_W0QQitemZ260044660634QQihZ016QQcategoryZ3311QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem . They aren't cheap.

The Jornada 575 is just a little better than the 560 series. The SD card works properly.

Whoa nelly! Are there still Jornada 575s floating around? I wonld kill for one of those! bluetooth, Ram, Xscale, why!

Anyways, would it be possible to use the Jornada 920's earpiece for Voip? I live in the united states, but the placement of the speaker/mic are perfect for voip. How would that fare with a CF GSM card? Thanks!

Don't think it would work, the headsets used with those cards use a pretty small connector - the 920's use a standard 3.5mm, right?

I picked up mine on Ebay a little over a year ago. Only cost $60. If I see another one, I'll post it.

There are CF GSM cards that will work with the HP560.Are there? I thought most of the GSM CF cards were TypeII and the 560 only has a TypeI slot IIRC. (TypeI is physically thinner)
