According to MobilMania.sk, the Samsung SGH-i760 will be thinner (154 x 57 x 19 mm), Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition powered and is expected to be a triband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA device with inbuilt W-LAN b/g and Bluetooth and features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It's expected to sport a 2 megapixel camera as well as a front facing video telephony camera."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/ekkie_samsung_sgh-i760_20061012.jpg" /><br /><br />Definitely a sweet-looking unit, though quad-band would be preferred. The original article (not in English) can be found <a href="http://www.mobilmania.sk/Mobilnetelefony/AR.asp?ARI=7052">here</a> with a host of photos available. Take a look and give us your thoughts. No word yet on expected availability or when it might make it to the US.

the intro text is misleading! the device is only 115 mm long x 57 x 19, the 154 mm are with the keyboard extracted. That compares to the HTC TYN 112 x 58 x 22 mm. So this device is smaller than the TYN and at 119 g it is also considerably lighter! Not bad, not bad :-)

Very nice device, but...
It looks like Samsung keeps releasing all this new devices (both Phone Edition and Smarphones) but very rarely you can actually get this devices.

I hope this one will be different...

I have heard very faint rumors of Samsung replacing the i730 that is sold through Verizon in the states? Could a similiar device to this, be that replacement? Verizon and Samsung have become very good at squashing leaks and indeed avoiding them altogether, the saying in wireless is "sell the apples you do have".

Still I am always curious what the next apple will be.... My i730 is old and in need of a face lift.

Apologies for digging up an old thread but I cant seem to find any useful information anywhere  Does anyone know if this phone will ever be a reality or is the SCH-i760 as good as it gets?

Currently there are two i760s out there. There is the CDMA version and the GSM version. They are quite different in form. Do a google search for Samsung i760 and go to the most recent engadgetmobile result.

Yea I was hoping that wasnt the case :? That is the SCH-i760 though, and I was hoping that the SGH would still be a reality  I'll keep hoping though, cos I dont really like the form of the SCH-i760...

It has been released by Samsung but will be available after Christmas at places like www.popularelect.com and your local GSM cell phone shops. I don't know why they have no vendor and no info or advertising but I never understand these companies anyways. I hope to get one myself.
