Sync contacts in multiple categories

I have my categories in multiple categories (4 -- 3 of the category lists come from a business source and are replaced annually). The only way I've found to sync them with ActiveSync is using Pocket Conacts Synchronizer (PCS). The problem with this is it creates a duplicate contact for each entry (in a separate folder which it uses to synchronize) and thus vastly increas the size of the PST file. It is also a rather crude system. Isn't there any better way to handle this? Thanks.
