Just received my new Hw6945 today from HP. I think this is the first retail release in US and was shipped on 9/15.
I really like it and think it will replace my Hx4700 just fine. There are some stepbacks - smaller screen, only one card slot. But offset by builtin GPS and keyboard. I like the "joystick" better than the Touchpad.
I do notice the slower processor speed (416 vs 624).
Any questions, I try to answer.

Well, most people I know who has had an hx4700 are always loyal to that device - even after a switch, so he/she still might still be a 4700 fan. 8)

Anyhow...I have a question:

Do you have any idea what chipset the GPS is functioning on (Sirf Star III?) and how good the GPS reception is?

Thanks guys - I think...
1. The Hx4700 is one he.. of a machine - I don't know yet what I'm going to do with it.
2. They have been very secretative about what the GPS really is. I have only found the mfg name - Global Locate.

I am really interestedin that iPAQ...to the point that I may end up trading my Universal for one. I LOVE this keyboard and the VGA screen (much like the hx4700) but having the GPS and the simple profiles application would be really nice.

Great! It's a nifty device. I've managed to play with it a few times since it was released in Australia. It's many steps ahead of its predecessor, the hw6500 series.

I think despite those drawbacks you mentioned, you'll still love it. It's that whole convergence factor that's enticing. The hx4700, of course, lacks that. :)
