Hi guys, I just bought Htc Tytn and I want to connect my Bose headphones. I was thinking of getting another Usb cable and cutting it and connecting the headphones. does anybody know the wiring scheme so I don't mess up something?
thanks, mirko

You might have better luck asking at xda-developers (http://www.xda-developers.com/).

The easiest way (and this was suggested at Xda-Developers) is to butcher the headset that came with your TyTn: Basically, you have two options here:

1) Open up the volume control box that's part-way along the cable and replace the wires that lead to the earbuds with the wires that lead to your Bose headphones. The worst that can happen here is that you reverse the stereo image (i.e you hear the left channel in your right ear and vice versa), but you should be able to avoid that by following the left earbud down to the left channel etc.

2) Cut the cable between the volume control and the earbuds (remember to label the left and right channels first) and attach a 3.5mm standard female jack. Then you've made your own adaptor which will connect to any headphones with a 3.5mm jack.

Of course, the other option is to wait until PPCTechs or a competitor releases a headphone adaptor for the TyTn (which, I hope, will allow simultaneous charging and headset use), but my guess is that you want to do this now.

I figured out this option immediately but the problem is I don't want to ruin my phone headset, there has to be a way to do it with just a regular mini usb cable.

http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2006/09/02/hermes_headphone_modding_service - they're offering to mod your headsets for just the cost of shipping and the 3.5mm socket.
