Activesync 3.8

I just received a new (to me) H4350. Unfortunately, I did NOT receive the CD with it.

So I went to the MS site to get ActiveSync, and 4.2 was there. I tried it, and a loader for one of my programs (ACT!) requires 3.1 to 3.8.

OK, back to MS. BUT WAIT! 3.8 is no longer there!

MS has removed the english version of 3.8.

So where else is someone hosting ActiveSync 3.8 so I can download it?

Welcome to Pocket PC Thoughts.

That is very strange. 8O I've double-checked and you're right - Microsoft did take it down. I'll ask them and see what's going on.

It was 'curious' to me that they seem to have only taken down the English version of 3.8. 22 other language versions are still up!

When installing v3.8, make sure you uninstall v4.2 first.

But after I "accepted" the terms, and hit the "download" button, I got:

"The page cannot be found
The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
.........."

Gah! Okay, back to the drawing board. I'll keep you posted if v3.8 ever surfaces again.

Thanks for your efforts, Darius - I think I'll just have to seek out the "kindness of strangers" who might have 3.8 they can send me.

Is there anyplace within MS I could call/e-mail, kind of a support path, to get it opened up for me?

i have the .exe 3.8 file saved since it allows Wifi syncing. Can email if needed.

Check your mail. Add the .exe to the end of the file to run it. I can't zip it.

Baker graciously sent me 3.8 via e-mail, and I now have it installed and functional.

I too just found out that MS took down ActiveSync 3.8, which I need to run certain software on my PDA. Can someone please email it to me. I don't know why the hell MS would take it down knowing that most older Pocket PC software would not be compatible with 4.2 version.

If you use that one, it'll never expire.

Also, for everyone else out there, at HPC:Factor we have all the versions of ActiveSync and Windows CE Services going back to the early days. Chris Tilley, the guy who I co-operate HPC:Factor with, does a great job of keeping those old bits just in case someone needs 'em. :-)
