I've now owned my 568 for almost five years and still use it often. I bought the 568 before PPC 2002 was released, and I realise that it may be late to look into upgrades now...javascript:emoticon('') but has anyone had success with an OS upgrade from Pocket PC version 3.0.11171.

Unfortunately, that particular model was never capable of being upgraded.

Actually the 568 is capable of being upgraded to ppc2002.
A ROM upgrade was actually available but I noted it had been removed from the HP website. I checked my archives and I have a 13MB file for a EUU3 upgrade. I'm not sure if this is the original HP one of a generic Hitachi one.
At the time, before HP released their 2002 update, Hitachi had made available one for their ppc and some readers realised it was generic and can be used on all pdas and not only Hitachi. I was one of those who upgraded. of course, subsequently, when I had dust on the screen, they gave me a one-to-one exchange which had the update already installed...

No. The Jornada 540 series is definitely not upgradeable. Those are old units by modern standards...

Thanks mouaddy, do you know if the above EUU3 update assumes that you have PPC 2002 already installed?

YES, ONLY the Jornada 568 can be upgraded with EUU3.
The Jornada 52x and 54x can not be upgraded to PocketPC 2002.
Time to buy a new PocketPC.

I'm not sure , but why the only upgradable version is the 568?
thanks

YES, ONLY the Jornada 568 can be upgraded with EUU3.
The Jornada 52x and 54x can not be upgraded to PocketPC 2002.
Time to buy a new PocketPC.

When I talk to HP's Jornada support they say :
"From the description, I see that you wish to upgrade the firmware for
your HP Jornada 568 Pocket PC.

At this point, I am sorry to inform you that the only update available
for Jornada 568 is Pocket PC 2002 EUU3 and it works only for Pocket PC
2002 Operating System."

So if anyone knows how I can get hold of the Hitachi upgrade mentioned by Airconvent...

Hi fellas,
I just replied to some of your posts but now realised you were talking about the 54x series. I previously owned this one too !
(history : Aero1520->Aero1550->J545->J548->J568->Toshiba740->I2750)
That one cannot be upgraded as they do not have enough RAM to accomodate the new OS and still have storage memory. In addition, they have hitachi SH3 CPU, not the ARM that the 568 uses. You need to upgrade to the 56x to do this...
Cheers

Hi Habri
I did some checking after my message to you and here is some possible good news :

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpia2497&lc=en&cc=sg&lang=en&dlc=en&product=63928

This link seems to suggest you can upgrade your 2000 to 2002 here. the trick is you MUST install the HP firmware upgrade first, (in blue text.)
Maybe that's what you have been doing wrong? No harm trying.
Good luck!

Yes!! I walked to the local corner shop to transfer the firmware +EUU3 file from a USB stick on to my Jornada's Compact Flash card. They then loaded like a charm on to my 568!
Thank-you Airconvent!
ps You don't happen to know of a good forum for MissingSync to sync with a Mac?javascript:emoticon(':D')
